At WealthRoots, your privacy is our priority. This Privacy Policy explains how WealthRoots (“we,” “us,” or “our”), a portfolio and net worth tracking app, handles your information. WealthRoots requires you to sign in with your Apple ID, and all data is either stored locally on your device or synced via Apple’s CloudKit service. We do not operate our own servers or collect your data directly. By using WealthRoots, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
- Information We Collect
WealthRoots does not collect or store your personal information on our own systems. Here’s how your data is handled:
Sign in with Apple:
- You must sign in with your Apple ID to use WealthRoots. We receive limited information from Apple, such as a unique identifier, and optionally your name and email (if you choose to share them). You can opt to hide your email via Apple’s private email relay service.
- Apple manages this authentication process, and we do not store your Apple ID credentials.
Financial Data You Provide:
- You input data about your assets, liabilities, investments, or net worth to track your portfolio. This data is stored locally on your device unless you enable iCloud sync.
- If iCloud sync is enabled (which is required for full functionality), your financial data is synced across your devices using Apple’s CloudKit service, subject to Apple’s privacy practices.
No Additional Collection:
- We do not collect device information (e.g., IP address, device ID) or usage data beyond what’s necessary for CloudKit sync.
- We do not use analytics, advertising, or other tracking tools.
- How We Use Your Information
Your data is used solely to provide WealthRoots’ functionality:
- To track your portfolio and calculate your net worth locally on your device.
- To sync your data across your devices via CloudKit when iCloud sync is enabled.
We do not use your data for any other purpose, such as marketing or analytics.
- How We Share Your Information
We do not collect, store, or share your data on our own servers. Sharing occurs only as follows:
- With Apple (CloudKit): When you enable iCloud sync, your financial data is stored and managed by Apple’s CloudKit service. This is encrypted by Apple and subject to their Privacy Policy (www.apple.com/privacy).
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law (e.g., a court order), but since we don’t hold your data, this would involve directing authorities to Apple.
- Data Storage and Security
- Local Storage: Your financial data is stored on your device unless synced with iCloud.
- CloudKit Storage: If synced, your data is stored in iCloud, encrypted by Apple. We do not control or access this data directly.
- Retention: Data remains on your device or in iCloud until you delete it. We do not retain copies.
- Security: We rely on Apple’s encryption and security for CloudKit. Locally, we use standard iOS security features. However, no system is fully secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute protection.
- Your Choices and Rights
- Sign in with Apple: You control what information (e.g., name, email) you share via Apple’s settings.
- iCloud Sync: You can manage or delete your synced data through your iCloud settings on your device.
- Data Deletion: To remove your data, delete it from the app or your iCloud account. Since we don’t store your data, no further action is needed from us.
- Privacy Rights: Under laws like GDPR or CCPA, you may have rights to access or delete your data. Since your data resides with Apple or on your device, exercise these rights via your Apple ID or device settings.
- Children’s Privacy
WealthRoots is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly allow use by children under 13, and Apple’s Sign in with Apple enforces age restrictions.
- Third-Party Services
WealthRoots relies on Apple’s Sign in with Apple and CloudKit. Apple’s privacy policies govern these services, and we are not responsible for their practices.
- Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our app or legal requirements. We’ll notify you via the app before significant changes take effect. Continued use of WealthRoots means you accept the updated policy.
